Are counselling and psychotherapy the same thing?
Having trained and qualified in both, my view is that psychotherapy offers a wider and deeper understanding of ourselves, how we became who we are and the way we relate to others, as well as how to change. Psychotherapy is especially useful for trauma, emotional and physical abuse, family dynamics and mood disorders. Both counselling and psychotherapy can enable and empower people to take back control, improve their self esteem and lead more fulfilling happier lives.
How long will therapy last?
I am an ethical therapist so I do not want clients continuing to pay for sessions, when they feel they have come to the end of the process. Although my aim is to enable clients to achieve positive change in their lives as quickly as possible. However, realistically, issues such as bereavement can be more complex and take considerably longer to find a way forward.
What happens if I need to cancel a therapy session?
If a client needs to cancel due to illness or other relevant mitigating circumstances I will not charge. However, unfortunately I will still have to charge if i am not given a weeks notice or if the session is just cancelled or there are no exceptional circumstances I will charge for that lost session.
